Susan has been offered an exciting job opportunity to read children’s books on TV, while the corporate bigwigs at Cavitex are making Ben’s working life a misery. So much so that he has revolution in mind and assembles like-minded Cavitex dentists to discuss strike action at the executive’s board meeting. Before that however, he is offered a promotion and although he has his list of demands at the ready, they suddenly slip his mind. Seduced by the power and a fancy pencil sharpener, Ben accepts.
It transpires that Susan has competition for the television job – her daughter Janey, who, in an attempt to sabotage Susan’s audition, impersonates the producer and tries to re-schedule it. Susan is determined not to let the job come between them, until the £50K salary persuades her otherwise and she and Janey go head-to-head. Their battle escalates at the audition causing both of them being thrown out of the studio.
Roger is stunned at the board meeting when Ben reveals his hand and refuses the dentists’ demands. Ben is enjoying corporate life but starts to feel uncomfortable about being used as an informant, until Mr Griffith offers him a pay rise and he spills the beans about the planned strike. The dentists give in, having forfeited all their benefits. Roger terminates his friendship with Ben and then Mr Griffith terminates Ben’s new position… until Ben plays his trump card and not only reinstates all the dentists’ demands, but sacks the executive board too.
Susan reveals that Janey got the TV job after all… not as she expected but as merely the unseen voice of Dickens the Monkey!
