Susan is going on a short trip - Ben feigns sadness but can’t wait to have a weekend to himself!
Janey’s visit to her Dad is interrupted when two policeman call and ask Ben to help them with their enquiries about a mugging in the area. He duly gives his statement at the police station and agrees to take part in an ID parade. He is subjected to further questioning and after letting slip that he has “got rid of” his wife, is told that he will be held for a further period and is incarcerated with heavy-duty cell mates Carl and Terry.
Carl and Terry tell Ben that the duty solicitor is useless and put a call in to their guy. When
Ben is freed, the new lawyer having fixed everything, Ben is full of gratitude and offers to return the favour one day. However, he is horrified when Carl and Terry turn up on his doorstep that very same night. They invite themselves to stay the night, and a gorgeous associate in the form of Carls’ wife, Verity, turns up with a case of jewellery and gives Ben a bracelet – now they are partners in crime!
Ben’s chance to escape out the back door is thwarted by Verity. She tells Ben she is tired of the company she keeps and wishes her husband was more like Ben! Her attempts to woo hinm further are thwarted by Carl – but he is not altogether disturbed by the prospect.
Ben manages to escape from the bathroom window and although initially relieved to find the police on his doorstep, his identity is stolen by Carl, and being unable to explain his actions and why he is wearing a valuable bracelet, is led away again!
