Episode Summary

With all their children having flown the nest, Ben and Susan settle down to savour some peace and tranquillity… until the arrival of Craig, the son of one of Ben’s old University friends. His enthusiasm for DIY prompts Susan to invite him to stay for dinner, but his attempts at helping around the house prove incongruous to Ben who wants him to leave – much to the chagrin of Janey who quite fancies him!
Ben confesses to Craig that he does not remember his mother, until a photo jogs his memory somewhat and his mind starts racing. He surreptitiously rings her and relives memories of whipped cream – indeed, he did know her! Alas, he is overheard by Michael and has to reveal that he thinks he could be Craig’s real father.
Susan throws Ben into a panic when he learns Janey and Craig are on a dinner date and he is forced to admit his close liaison with Penny but insists he wasn’t two-timing Susan.
Susan’s anger heightens on learning that Craig may be Ben’s son, but nothing can be proven without a DNA test – until then they must prevent Janey getting too friendly with Craig, so surprise the young couple at dinner – especially when Ben tries to take a swab from Craig’s mouth with a breadstick. To explain such weird behaviour, he blurts out his revelation.
Eventually, Michael arrives with the DNA results… Craig is not a Harper – which pleases the whole family!
